Performing Arts - Play in a Day(Ages 8 to 11)

Join the Performing Arts club this summer and flex your storytelling skills! Each week over the summer holidays the Performing Arts club will be led on a storytelling adventure where they must help the Shine Coach create a play in a day! They will be given a theme, costume, props and plenty of encouragement to let their imaginations go wild!
Week 1 (22nd - 26th July) Space Exploration!
- Join the summer club and let your imagination loose in space! Get your space boots on and jump into the endless storytelling possibilities to produce a play in a day. Blast off to explore the universe and discover an adventure. Catch stars, meet aliens or land on the moon the story is up to you!
Week 2 (29th - 2nd Aug) Under the Sea
- Join the summer club and let your imagination loose under the sea! Get your swimming goggles on and dive into the endless storytelling possibilities to produce a play in a day. Dive in and explore the depths of the ocean and discover an adventure. Snorkel through the coral reefs, explore shipwrecks or meet mermaids the story is up to you!
Week 3 (5th - 9th Aug) Superhero Rescue
- Join the summer club and let your imagination loose to become a superhero! Get your capes on and jump into the endless storytelling possibilities to produce a play in a day. Discover the qualities of a hero and begin your adventure. Save the day, meet your hero or find your super power, the story is up to you!
Week 4 (12th - 16th Aug) Fairytale Adventure
- Join the summer club and let your imagination loose within a fairytale! Turn the page and discover the endless storytelling possibilities to produce a play in a day. Mix up your favourite tales and see what happens! Meet the Big Bad Wolf, climb up Rapunzel's hair or fly on the back of a dragon, the story is up to you!
Week 5 (19th - 23rd Aug) Time Travel Adventures
- Join the summer club and let your imagination loose by travelling through time! Jump in the time machine and discover the endless storytelling possibilities to produce a play in a day. Travel back in time or zoom forward into the future, just make sure you can get back! The story is up to you!
Week 6 (26th - 30th Aug) Lost Treasure
- Join the summer club and let your imagination loose in the lost and found shop! Explore the shop of lost treasures and discover the endless storytelling possibilities to produce a play in a day. Meet the shopkeeper, follow the clues and return the lost items to their rightful owners, the story is up to you!
Parents are invited to join us at the end of the day to watch a performance by the children to showcase what they have been working on during the day. There is no obligation to attend (or for your children to take part if they don't want to), it is just for fun and will take place at 3.15pm.
You can book your child to stay on at Shine until 5.55pm if you need extended childcare. We have 2 options:
- Late Pick Up until 4:45pm - Add on Late Pick Up when you book. Snacks are not provided but children are welcome to eat any snacks they have with them.
- Snack & Chill from 4:45pm until 5:55pm - Add on Late Pick Up AND Snack & Chill when you book. Snacks are provided in this session. This will generally be a quieter time for children after their long holiday club day.

ESSENTIAL KIT
- Packed lunch, drinks and snacks for the day. Shine is a nut free organisation and do not allow any products containing nuts or traces of nuts in their snacks/packed lunches. This includes Nutella, Pesto, Kinder Bueno and anything else containing nuts. We will call you and ask to bring alternatives if you pack nut items in lunch boxes.

Activity Details
The Shine performance arts group will be guided through a range of activities throughout the day. A typical day will start off with them participating in ice breaking activities/games. After break they will start the main activity of building up their character or performance based on the theme for the day. After lunch they will then create props and set designs for the end of day performance.
Children will get the opportunity to enjoy themselves through a wide range of different activities during the day, including;

- Your child/children must be signed out at the end of every day.
- We use the main entrance to the school to drop off and collect all children.
